12 Must-See Oregon Destinations: Crater Lake

Crater Lake is one of those places one can’t really describe. When you are there, you become aware of the enormity of the mountain and it’s collapse. The park abounds with amazing hiking, but for those of us with limited mobility, we can enjoy the drive, the scenery, and the restaurants.

  1. This isn’t just an Oregon must see, I’d rate it as one of those places everyone should see before they die. Georgia O’Keefe in describing Palo Duro Canyons, said, “SKY!” About Crater Lake, I would say, “BLUE!”

  2. Crater Lake was one of those places I wasn’t expecting much from it, but to this day I still remember how beautiful and blue the water was and I loved the lodge that is there too. Overall, it was a very pleasant surprise.

    • Hi John,
Sorry you missed it. I imagine that is a busy weekend! I love being there multiple times. I actually drove down for the day on the 31st. This time of year is my favorite because the road around the rim is completely clear so I can access more of the lake. If you ski, winter can be fun too, but you have to ski most of it.
